SOMOTO updated its website, it has a familiar buggy feel of a low budget site, you cannot change an image with it refreshing the entire page.
SOMOTO is actually a place in Nicaragua, literally translates into the valley of geese. so it is not an ideal brand name, “SOMOTO for life the ride of your life” is their slogan? Typical Chinese marketing, things you over look more then are attracted by?
Not sure who is behind the website or the naming, but sorry they stink at it and that is the truth.
Hahah there is also a computer virus called SOMOTO…..
Ok enough of that,
The bikes are OK
The trellis framed prototype is pretty cool.

The little classic is being offered in Thailand, they call it sport classic CENTAUR.
The company offering them is called Stallion, they primarily offer mini-bikes.
Retail price 64,500 THB coverts to about $2,200.00 USD

This model is not a copy of the Meggeli though as the form is different.
I am not sure which engines they will use for that bike, the details are not on the site.
There are a couple 250cc water cooled options, they likely will buy the Zongshen 4-valve, my guess.
I would like to see it with the DOHC engine that Yingang has, wonder which one cost less?
The prototype is air cooled and likely sporting a CB type, if they use that it really should be the balanced shaft versions. They are likely finding out that they do better with the 125cc offerings? Their simply is a bigger market for them so these would need a really good 125cc version for the UK.
I have to say the 200cc Suzuki is a very good engine, it also is different after mature then new seems smoother. I rode mine last night and it has good power. But it vibrates, I would like to test some of the CB engines with balance shafts the smoother the better.
Not sure if I would want a trellis frame, they look cool but all I see is an engine in a cage, hard to get at? Ever work on something and say….who the fuck designed this, they must have never thought about anyone working on it?

After Dong Fang and Znen (CCW), Somoto also offered their rigid frame chopper with ape hanger handlebars - Jackpot.
