You guys that have installed a magnetic drain plug, have you caught anything?
Ive had one on my car for 17 years and never found a spec...
Since I have learned at best they are for inspection, and if the oil and filter are doing its job, you should never see anything. Though if you do, your engine has already suffered catastrophic damage that needs to be addressed.
That said, I don't know if I can expect as much from a Cmoto and wonder if they are worthy.Last edited by axa; 05-30-2013 at 01:52 AM.

I bought a new leftover Yamaha XT225 dual sport single in 2008. I had read about the large amount of crud on the oil filter the first few oil changes, and they even showed photos at this forum. Glad I had been warned, because it was the worst I have ever seen. By the 3rd change all was well, and the bike went on to run great. So, if you get a lot of crap at first, it's may not be the end of the world for that bike.

ouch .... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8__EwAT8VM at 12-16mph on a left hand turn , on a road that Ive rode many times , to have a random pile of nearly spherical gravel in the middle of the intersection (dead center in the left turn as I was doing) as SOON as the front tire touched the "puddle of marbles" (gravel) the leaning bike n I just plumb fell over
snapped left peg and mirror off , but highway peg I had installed acted as crashbars protecting ALL paint and motor :)
and I only sustained a mear scratch on the elbow and a sore shoulder
but needless to say , 5K + miles , n bike finally down for 1st significant amount of time (for new parts) of nearly 90% highway miles @ 70mph indicated (62-65 mph) :(
it did have some hickups out the box , voltage regulator relpaced , headlight replaced with car sealed beam , converting to LED's in rear taillight or they would just break at ever hard bump , blinker relay that the voltage regulator killed , battery and battery box mod to fit vent hose and allow charger hook up , chain tensioner , air pump deleat , conversion to a 625?from the stock 520 chain to have more front sprocket options and 2 front and 3 rear sprockets to find the perfect ratio 2.0588 for sustainable speed/rpm engine sound for a 165lb man in flatland texas at 70 indicated , but I also have I car tire on the rear so the smaller size greatly effect the ratio vs stock
but Ive noticed the engine still has the throat of the honda CG 125 motor that it is , so I can only really get down is when its mighty chilly the airs thicker thus if the winds my direction , hovering +/- 80 mph doable , the warmer it gets thinner air the less my max atainable , Ive been concidering some kinda mini turbo :pLast edited by DanDaMan; 05-30-2013 at 05:42 AM.

80 isnt as bad as it sounds when your ONLY ever doing that on very smooth highways , with full leathers n full face helm (cause its like Freezing when airs thick nuff to go that fast)
shoot I actually geared it for 90 :p well 86.721 somethingish
off highway , I never hit 5th

Sorry you had that happen to you. I once read about an accident in a MC magazine. A rider was on a nice curvy backroad, when suddenly he and his bike were just laying there. He hadn't seen anything. Turns out a truck had dropped a load of "beads", as used in bead blasting.
