surely I would match the rim to tire.
out of curiosity im going to check the rim for actual specs...
but our cst tire states a recommended rim size of 3.75, which is more or less what i measured manually of the rim.
So when i looked up the proper rim width/tire width match, it noted the 160 was a valid combination.
then changing the ratio to 60, you can match the over all diameter of the original.
Then of course we could always change the rim...
which is apparently what Dan has done.
cuz i didnt bother to measure between rear forks, but I didn't imagine a 205 could fit ever. therefore really i hope Dan can manage to post the pics.

I had around 150 miles on mine before I took the pump off and the hose to the head was perfect, sounds like you have some mini muffler action going on to me. Maybe they hooked it up backwards and it's sucking out exaust and blowing it into your carb.
I did the head light fix today. Mine being a 2012 and with different controls than the 2010 I hoped that they had resolved the issue, but no. Mine was bright in idle but as soon as you get the revs up it'd dim. Took the tank off and found the blue and white stripe hooked to the dark green. There was no nub of the other end of the blue and white to be found so I folded the green wire under and hooked up the blue and white to the black (Ground) coming off the ignition switch. Comes on when I turn the key and stays bright under load. Yeah

Yea, i took my first nite ride last nite, scared the shit out of me... first of all the headlight was dim as you say. On coming cars would drown my light from 100 yards.
And not being able to see that far ahead, with these springers, things creep up on you until BAMMM!
I love the look of these springers, but hate the feel...
Anyway, the wiring is funny indeed. dim and then when you squeeze the brake light the headlight brightens...
So it seems you are bypassing that ac generator/regulator thingy, and driving the headlight strait from the battery.
I would just be concerned with having it like that. if i were to try to start in the cold, when my battery has begun to wear down from age, will i get stranded... but maybe thats not an issue if your not in the cold..Last edited by axa; 06-06-2013 at 06:55 AM.

its all good.
well you weren't kidding were you...
I was looking at the chopper at some point, and saw even the frame is a similar design, but it cant be the same is it?
those are some seat spring and forward control mods you got there.
im going to mill out some new shift linkage, i find mine a bit loose.
but thats about as far as ill go for now...

ya , I am 6ft 5inch , even on a 1977 suzuki GS 750 , or a 1980 honda CB 750 F super sport , or the 1975 kawasaki KZ 1000 , I make em all look like mini bikes , so I might as well actually ride a mini bike
the top of the seat even with my 3" spring mod is lower than my knee
and the sissybar is so I ride "recliner" style , seriously , sit in a recliner , kick your feet up , and lay back as far as possible , thats my riding position atop the slightly underinflated car tire

Chuck, im just as perplexed as you are, while riding after a good 15 min warm up, twice i blew out quality American hoses. and another decent looking hose a second time.
Blew out rather than melting perhaps, BUT since I was riding and the hole would just get bigger and bigger till it almost split, I really assumed at the time it was melting.
So i dismantled the ENTIRE pump last nite. And now understand how this thing should work...
It was new and clean as one would expect on a new bike, nothing stuck or corroded...
So there i was blowing and sucking on it like a Patpong hooker...
The only puzzling thing i found was the pressure of the spring on the output valve, and how small that output valve is.
It seemed to be about 5 to 10lb spring, at first observation i thought a bit heavy for an air system, nothing i could over come with lungs pressure anyway.
Honestly i don't quite understand where the pressure or the vacuum would built to open this valve.
One side has an open passage to the fresh air intake, and the other side being a needle passage to the primary intake...
The system would make sense if the spring was much weaker, but not with the strength the spring has.
So now that this has been investigated, the only possibilities i received 3 bad hoses or that spring is just out of spec...
I find it implausible that I got 3 bad hoses, i don't imagine finding a proper replacement spring, and as far as i know it really doesn't matter, so ill just cap the system off.
It would be interested for me if you or anyone with a working pump would just push in the valve and see what kind of strength it has. it can easily be accessed without dismantle but pushing a screw driver through the fresh air hose opening
I did also check the plug, and it was a bit black along the base rather than white so i assume im not running lean and hot...
Sorry i didn't take any pics, i was thinking of doing that at the time but not sure anyone would be interested... which is really a silly thing to think on this forum...
ill have to consider swappi9ng the secondary for the springers... :>

axa so what happened to the original hose? it broke? or did you change it out before really using it meaning fixing something that wasnt broke. just have to know every detail in order to troubleshoot. how about a hose clamp to hold it down if the pinch clamp doesnt work. PICS.
