Africa trip

A poster on this UK forum, (Steve F), who is from South Africa is seriously thinking about an epic trip from the UK to the tip of Africa by Chinese bike. He has in the past done a lot of travelling in Africa, so he should know what to expect.

He's seeking some sort of sponsorship, in any shape or form, even if it's just a website or blog detailling the trip, etc.

This would be a good way for a Chinese maker to get some much-needed good publicity (if he makes it...),

The minimum cost to a maker would just be a bike and some spares, not a lot for someone that makes millions of bikes a year, and think of the advert lines, something like BMW used years ago to exploit the fact that lots of long distance adventurers were using their bikes, and impressed me greatly:

"BMW, it'll take you to work...or to the ends of the Earth."

Does anybody think it's feasible?.

Jialing would be the ideal candidates with their JH600.

Chinese people and businesses are not very keen on giving things away for free usually!

Worth a try, but possible there could be some kind of deal done. Knowing the Chinese way of doing things, he would need to buy the bike, and they would pay him back afterward, if they get the positive press coverage they want.

I've just realised he plans to ride to Cape Town down the West coast AND come back up on the East coast. How many miles is that?. He would need a fair few spares and back-up, even if only from local dealers in Africa. It would have to be a make that has some presence in the Continent.
