It’s a new engine right, Is the popping in the exhaust and when decelerating? That’s unspent fuel igniting in the exhaust. That could be resolved with a good mechanic and them troubleshooting. The thing is that if you ask them and they do not make sense in response to what could cause this and what would they do…then run the other way.

It only happens when accelerating under load at around 5500rps and 60 kmh. I think I know what sound you're thinking of and its not that. Backfiring right? That happens occasionally but not often enough to make me worry. The sound seems to come from directly below me in the engine itself.
The engine is brand new, the other speed limit problem is gone and now there is nothing else wrong with the bike so I have absolutely no idea.
Today Im going to do a good spark plug test. I'll run it for a while in that range and then look at it.

    That a decent advertisement,

I think that something is still messed up relating to the EFI, ridding the bike with that can damage the engine. That EFI reads sensors and each signal has to be read correctly or basically the timing is off. They realized the engine was damaged and replaced it, but may have not eliminated the cause, they may have eliminated one but there may have been more than one. That is often a common problem in troubleshooting electronics they find one thing and stop assuming that was it, but do not do a complete check? Unfortunately you likely have something still damaged from that initial power washing? That sound you hear is likely to some degree destructive to the engine, its not firing correctly.

You being happy is their goal, in that it saves them face.
You being unhappy has to be resolved, in that you need to keep up the emphasis that you are unhappy. The bike is making bad sounds and the engine is new…the bike is new, it cost allot of money. It is still making the sound the old engine made why…it all makes you very sad, you feel like you will never be happy, as happy as you were before, as happy as when you first bought the new bike. Do not tell them how to do their job that is a slap to the face.

If they blame you just say that just makes you unhappier. If they ask what can they do to make you happy say a new bike and send this one to the factory so they can understand it better.

I thought the noise was caused by the same thing (some issue with the EFI causing a timing issue). THe other day i went and had it tested by a more professional mechanic and he didn't find anything wrong.. Im not sure if there is anything else I can do. It could also just be a harmless sound.

Thanks for the manual! I've been looking for something like this for a long time. It should be very helpful.

I think I've finally solved that noise problem. Recently a few other noises cropped up that definitely were caused by loose bolts so while searching for the culprits I found a few missing bolts on the air box. The other new sounds were caused by loose bolts on the head light fixture and a missing bolt in under the top box. Anyway the sound seems to have stopped. I guess I was a bit too over concerned.

Also, I leave for my trip next week. Shanghai to Istanbul. Wish me luck.
