Deppon logistics company were previously transporting MC's round China, I used them previously for transporting motorcycles and found the service to very good though expensive. However a call to ask on pricing recently only to discover that for the time being, senior management had advised all depots that private motorcycles were not to be accepted for transport/shipment. Further enquiries with the Manager of my local Deppon office only revealed that the directive had come from the highest levels within the company. From other discussions, it seems that Deppon might (and I stress might) still be shipping through motorcycle dealerships who have agreements or similar with Deppon Logistics. Meaning that the ban (whether temporary or otherwise) might apply to private individuals...

An alternative is China Rail... apparently cheaper though inconsistent, some stations yes, some no, some of the same stations yes &/or no!

It would have been but drove instead and shipped the bikes. Both arrived only to have the silverwing stolen two days later on a pedestrian and motorcycle/scooter friendly street with 2 locks left for two hours while I grabbed coffee. The street vendor that talked to me before that I locked the bike next two saw nothing. Dali police then asked if I could prove my bike was missing. If it was missing could I prove it was stolen. Vets le vie.

    Great.

Can you share some of the details? Did you ship as luggage having ridden to the main passenger terminal of the station, versus freight and directed toward the freight terminal... more details will help provide some clarity for others should anyone be in a similar position/location... Were you required to have an empty petrol tank or did they allow you to have ~1L of petrol within the tank? Who took care of the packing?

Anyway, good work! 500 kuai is less than the cost (800 kuai) for wooden crate construction that some logistics companies charge.

Update: Deppon now offer a consignment service where a truck with tail lift is provided to transport motorcycles round the country. The cost is not cheap, however since the truck provided can be used to carry more than one motorcycle & gear it could work out a cost effective option to transport a group of motorcycles cross country. As an example freight cost for providing a truck to transport a motorcycle or group of motorcycles from Ningbo - Kunming is CNY7000-8000. The cost is high as there's no general freight transported on the truck other than items related to the motorcycles/motorcyclist(s).

I'll update the Deppon option when I check with the local distribution hub.

映輝物流 Ying Hui Logistics Company based in Shanghai currently recommended via BMW MC Owners Club (WeChat).

映輝物流 (Ying Hui Wu Liu [logistics company])
    上海闵行区培昆路328号清飞物流园B1-B4
Qing Fei Business Park, B1-B4, 328 PieKun Lu, MinHang, Shanghai
    tel: (021) 64580905
    mobile: 134 820 61118

On February 23rd approx 200-300 Ch!na BMW MC Owners Club members will be travelling from the mainland to Chiang Mai, Thailand for a MC race series held end of February. Some of these club members will be transporting their motorcycles via:
映輝物流 (Ying Hui Wu Liu [logistics company]) for 元3600 return (due to the volume of motorcycles being shipped).

I spoke with Ling Hui Logistics Company Thurs 17th Dec, for an estimate to transport my GS to Kunming. Greater number of motorcycles would reduce the cost per unit.

    Estimates:
Shanghai depot -> Kunming 元2000-2500 [one way]
Ningbo -> Shanghai depot -> Kunming 元4000 (approx.) [one way]
