Has anybody used an 'O' ring drive chain, and if so how much longer do they last compared with standard chains?
Regards
Jim

I do not use spray lube, i lubricate the chain every 500km with gearbox oil.
If you have an oring chain you can lubricate with spray.

I think if you buy an o-ring chain for a smaller bike you have invested more than you really needed to in a chain. This is not necessarily a bad thing , as you will pay more attention to it , and , if you buy the nice gold one you feel inclined to clean it so you can see its shininess .
O-rings seal some lube inside the rollers and reduce wear so they do no harm. You will get more km from the chain , but the real benefit is not having to get out your tools every 300km and adjust it.

09-26-2014, 08:41 PMIt's all nice with the o-ring (or even x-ring) chains, but power losses with them are higher which is noticeable with our small engines.

Agree with this, however, you can convert sizes to help recover some of those losses. I documented this extensively in my XTR250 thread a couple years ago. A very high quality 428 O-Ring/X-Ring chain is a far superior alternative to the 520 crap chains that come on almost every Chinese motorcycle. There's no Chinese 250 that puts out enough power to worry about using 428.
Cheers!
