Thats a place to get you started, not sure what carburetor is on yours or what option you have?
Bet that it the same as the carburetors on the CCW bikes and the DF, they all basically do the same things. Change the jets, change the exhaust...

08-07-2015, 12:48 AMThanks. Have installed 30 mm mikuni carb 110 main jet. Opened the air box lid a lil. And changed the front sprocket to 17 tooth so far. The bike seems to be running very good. Top speed is 60 mph now. Always looking for more performance lol.

09-13-2015, 07:39 PMThinking about ordering a Hawk 250 (229). Have you had any issues with gas leaking from the gas cap? Looks like it comes with very aggresive dirt tires. How are these working out on the street? I would wear these out (bet they don't last too long), and then go with more of a dual sporty design. I was going to just buy a Bashon 200, but, I think i'll go for the slightly bigger 250. Also, the Bashon uses some hard to find bolt pattern on the rear sprocket. The Hawk uses a common front sprocket, and I bet the rear is also of a common design. I can get the 17 tooth front from Amazon. Or, I could go through Kiser Motorcycle in Kona, Hawaii. They are 125 miles away.
I know to change the oil, check all nuts and bolts and maybe use some locktight, etc on these. With the 16 tooth front, can the bike cruise all right at 50? I assume this bike uses just a cleanable screen as an oil filter?

09-14-2015, 01:13 AMI haven't had any problems at all. I have put just over 500 miles on it. The tires are pretty aggressive but they are showing very little wear and they ride fine on the street. I have no complaints about this bike. Honda xr185 sprockets front and back fit it. And yes it does use a cleanable screen for oil filter.

09-14-2015, 02:06 AMWhen you had the 17 tooth front on it, did you have to do some slipping of the clutch to get under way? Did it make 5th gear a bit unusable? Was it with the 17 that it topped out at 60? What speed can you cruise at comfortably now with the 16 tooth front? I'm about 200 pounds, and would like to order a new front sprocket for the bike soon after ordering the bike. If you are heavier than I am, then maybe the 17 would be all right. If you are lighter, or the same weight, then maybe I better just go with the 16. I could live with cruising at 50 here on the island. Have you figured out your gas mileage?
The more I hear, the more I think this Hawk is a good choice.
