I have, I think he should seek contact with Hero Motocorp, they have the best version of that engine. That engine can be bored out, but currently does not qualify for street use. To get the most out of it and to meet emissions it needs EFI. Hero’s version has EFI and is rated at 20hp. But that is certainly not enough, he should also pursue Hero and Takegawa simultaneously for a 15hp horizontal DOHC 125cc engines, for production street bikes for the tier one in the EU. That would be about engineering prowess, it was Buell that took the 223cc to 20hp. I wonder if it also meet emissions? Only the Japanese offer full or complete specifications and only in their domestic market. They list models with power ratings as well as emissions, they also always offer accurate numbers, at some point in their evolution the government required it and also that it be 100% accurate. I do not believe a DOHC would be dirtier, it likely is more efficient. I believe that it is all very possible and Asian manufacturing is cost effective enough to bring it to the markets affordably.

So, one more "mystery" solved.

I saw this bike first time year or year and a half ago, on "Universal motors" site (https://universalmotors.ru/motorcycl...28507236.html/), branded as "Avto-Velo-Moto" (AVM or, in cyrillic, АВМ, which is some company from St. Petersburg - http://moto.abm-centre.ru/ ).

Pretty interesting bike, if I may say.

From a business stand point, you have Ridley, who is on ice, iced by corporate HD through a lawsuit. Ridley, as does everything, has a price tag. That price tag could be presented to Kohler and Yinxiang. The Ridley could be resurrected in the US and could also be made in China to sell in Russia.

Seems that the financial crisis caused sales to drop and also made it really difficult to get financing. Ridley also was fighting off a trademark violation lawsuit filed against them by Harley Davidson over their use of the name auto-glide. Ridley filed for bankruptcy in 2009 and it was sold at auction in 2010, it was bought by one of it subsidiaries called 2 wheel ventures that currently supports the spare parts market for Ridley owners.

I like the idea to bring Ridley back the with Yinxiang and Kohler.
The goal would be to get the cost down and subsequently lower retail prices.

Several versions of the CVT....one could be an enduro.

There are some reviews of the Ridley, by people that have ridden them, they sold a few thousands of them. Considering the retail prices of the Ridley, when they did sell them, before 2009 before the financial crisis, they had a sellable product, if the price was lowered the sales would likely come back.
Convincing Kohler to invest in that, would be very challenging. Insuring some level of made in the USA retained even more challenging, part of the enthusiasm for the Ridley was made in the USA. Ridley went after mostly Woman riders with a low seat height and no shifting. The market was not limited to woman though it also was after aging riders, the aging demographic of riders. Retired and always rode, want to keep ridding. The bike was considered very easy to ride.
The big transmission is the result of it being developed after the engine, an engine never really intended to be fitted into a two wheeled vehicle. As is production would be cheapest to start up, if it did well it could be refined, new rider’s could be attracted if the price was low.
For that new ridders are not all interested in gears, some have insurmountable fear of shifting. They are in that not performance driven, they often seek scooters these are an options for them. Also scooters are a first choices for some due to their lower prices.
Often manufactures intentionally chose to offer to a limited market, typically higher income markets. The Ridley did that, getting the price way down widens the market, but in turn reduces profits per unit, which mean production costs have to be minimalized.
The review said not fast, got up to 80mph with no fuss and could ride at speed all day, but had no power beyond the high end, obviously those that choose it would careless about going that fast.
