I don't think it would be possible to make a 1090 in China at that price point. The 1090 would require too many imported components to realize much savings. If they opened up tooling in China, the capital expenditure would need to be amortized into the unit price of the bike, so the cost would stay high. The only way to get a 1090 in China at the regular global price, would be for China to grow up and stop the import tariff bullshit they've been pulling since they joined the WTO.

I think a sub-100K adventure tourer could be built in China, but KTM's global customer base would never accept it. Hopefully CFMOTO will continue growing as the premier China motorcycle supplier. China only needs a couple moto companies, and it's long overdue to get rid of the shit corporations that have been holding the industry back.
