Let's just take the new KTM 1090 Adverture bike which is being sold on Taobao for 149.000 RMB.
IF this was made in China then we should be looking at a R.R.P. at below 100K.
    Now that would be nice.

I don't think it would be possible to make a 1090 in China at that price point. The 1090 would require too many imported components to realize much savings. If they opened up tooling in China, the capital expenditure would need to be amortized into the unit price of the bike, so the cost would stay high. The only way to get a 1090 in China at the regular global price, would be for China to grow up and stop the import tariff bullshit they've been pulling since they joined the WTO.

I think a sub-100K adventure tourer could be built in China, but KTM's global customer base would never accept it. Hopefully CFMOTO will continue growing as the premier China motorcycle supplier. China only needs a couple moto companies, and it's long overdue to get rid of the shit corporations that have been holding the industry back.

    Hi ChinaV

I am talking about the "NONE R" Adventure Bike on Taobao for 149.000 RMB.
The RRP in the UK for this bike is 11.299 UK pounds

    link....https://www.adventurebikerider.com/ktm-1090-adventure/

    That's 98.760 RMB.

The "R" version does cost more.

Now the UK price INC VAT which is 20%.
A new bike in China we have to pay 10% tax after the we have paid the full RRP.
So the bikes should cost in line with the UK RRP and end up being around 90.000 RMB.
Or maybe I am seeing things the wrong way?

Honda have a lot of experience of joint ventures in China. is CRF1000 (Africa) produced here? no.

same for KTM, I believe they will produce here similar range they are producing in India with Bajaj.

buy I'd like to believe, that cooperation with KTM will help CFMoto to build more advanced ADV models.

Yes ultimately the tariff game that the gov is playing is just allowing sub par companies to exist in a non competitive atmosphere, thereby producing sub par bikes at an inflated price. IF they had the balls to open the country up to competition, there would be a couple of tough years as the local companies either adapted or failed (a positive thing for the economy, killing of the dead wood), then through the cauldron of competition, truly good products and companies could emerge. THEN we would see a really strong Chinese industry adding some value to society and possibly creating some REAL quality products.
The case of the 1090 is interesting as it is only a niche product locally. IF KTM decided to base its global production here then even vertically integrating the component makers may be worth it, But if they were only to produce 1090s for the local market with all the artificial barriers in the market like prohibitive registration costs and "no ride cities" (a rant for another time), I don't see it being worthwhile for KTM. I think a 390 ADV and possibly the new 790 Duke/ADV might be more likely.
I thought perhaps CF Moto might bring a real ADV bike to market in concert with KTM.
