What sort of ATV? Like a race type 2wd or a utility 4wd? I know where I got my bike from Coast to Coast motorsports has some pretty good looking ones, however they are priced accordingly... If he is looking for a cheap one, there is a "200 Gio Beast" from Giovanni, I think it is probably lower quality, but it looks alright, and is fairly cheap, I'm guessing he could get one for a little under $1000, shipped.

I haven't seen one in person, but have heard they aren't really high quality.Last edited by Jim; 04-20-2008 at 04:38 PM. Reason: add image

Are the Chinese ATV's in North America bought the same way as the motorcycles? i.e. mail order?

Mike, not sure if your friend decided on a quad yet, but I was looking at a Sumoto 200 Cyclone from www.coasttocoastmotorsports.com and it looks like a pretty sweet atv... It's 2wd, liquid cooled, and the build quality on them looks top notch... The "list" price is $1899, which is the same as the one I saw on the back of a trailer for sale in a Home Depot parking lot, which was air cooled. The giovanni ones are cheaper, but from what I hear the quality is low (and from appearance).
Here's the Cyclone,
