Midnight blue looks great.
The smog block eliminates the backfire?
Printable View
It seems to have less engine popping sound upon deceleration after its taken off...not backfire. has a cleaner look and starts easier without all the air.
u gotta admit it looks a whole lot better without it. someone asked me what that black dildo lookin thing hanging there was....i knew it had to go at that instant.
nice, might do that.
Here's a vid of the bike rev and the the crappy mirrors.

Firs time it back fired I looked down to make sure the family jewels aren't gonna suffer.
The smog injector pushed exhaust back into the intake side of the head which leans out the fuel air mixture, while re-burning some exhaust. This helps push the motorcycle through US emissions standards.A lean running condition(not enough fuel per molecule of air) causes back firing, hanging idle, and excessive engine temps in air cooled engines. The good thing about removing the the exhaust injection unit is,it fixes the lean running condition with stock carb jetting, reduces heat in the engine which equates to a longer life, and even the smog cops don't realize it's missing.
My new headlight is coming today. I can't wait! It's 4.25" instead of the 7.25" that is currently on the bike. Also, it's an H4 so it will be brighter. I am going to re-wire the complete headlight from the electronics box to the front of the bike with a heavier gage to prevent meltdown and carry a larger load. While I have the tank off I'm going to JB Weld the weak welds as posted earlier in this thread to prevent a future leak. Also, going to Kreem the tank to prevent rust and prolong the life of the carb. I will post pics as soon as the work is finished with install details.
Looking forward to the follow up. Will there be pictures?
:scooter:
It will leave a nice hole and brackets to mount something else. maybe I"ll stick something like this in there.

Crank case breather for the air filter mod.
Thanks ben2go,
This is just great info on the smog block
Looks like I can at least hold on to the mirros till I pay off the bike. Look at how you fix them.
Get a pick and pull on the rubber surrounding the mirror. The all you have to do is lock tighten it or just tighen the nut. To think I was gonna superglue or apoxy it.

Check out tcbroschoppers.com , they have some interesting offerings for lights, fake oil tanks and gas tanks.
I was gonna buy clutch lever assembly and break, so I mount the new ones on. But i have time I don't have to do to many changes all at once.
But what do you guys think of me putting a piece of sheet metal between the Dildo and the engine to block the smog. Remove the hose and Cap in case i ever need to put it back on.
I definitely want to change the placement of the ignition as my keys keep slapping onto the tank. grinding metal seems like a ton of work :-) Thoughts?
The guy that sold me my DF250 told me he sold many of them. I've yet to see one Locally. I'd love to go riding with them some day. But most of the bikes he sold would come back wrecked. Job security. Too bad he ended up getting a job out in Vegas.
I used a small piece of sheet metal and put the dildo back on upside down - check it after fitting as my 1st sheet metal application pierced and was blowing a bitQuote:

:confused1:
simple , but the 520 sprockets not work with 428 chain , u need new front and rear sprockets and the chain
but not "really" needed , as my 1 more tooth upfront is the same as 3 less in rear
no grinding involved
Is it possible to put a kick starter on our bikes?
You always can drop it in second roll it and pop the clutch, and drive away. Next best thing to a Kick.
Man.. This winter is killing me, 12 more inches coming down here I guess next two days.
The roads were just getting almost ready to ride then, blam. more ice and snow. :rolleyes1:
Hey Goobar, Got my new air filter today, had to do the roll start the other day as the batt was low from sitting around in the cold weather. I'm not going to do the mods until after the State inspection. Got the MSO today also, good mail day. Tomorrow I'm going to get the insurance and see about getting one of my buddy's to trailer it down to the DMV for the inspection. Found another crank case breather (pics) and I'm for sure doing the anti smog block removal. Hope you get some sunny days soon.

Bob, Glad you got your MSO 2/3rs the battle. The filter should work great. Paint er black. This type actually will work the best as the juices will run back into the crank where they belong if you attach it with a real short hose from the crank straight up. I cant believe they need to inspect the DF, what a BS deal is that. Your tax dollars at work. Whats the weather like in Northeast NV this time of year? i'll bet all over the map/warm then cold, snow up higher? I drove thru there in May several years ago and it was sunny and warm and rolling and Hilly but very scenic as I remember, Think I saw some antelope on some of the grassy ridges. I must be a glutton for punishment ,I Just bought and brought home a Russian Bike also a 2012 URAL Patrol with a side car. needs lots of Mods and tweaks also. But very cool bike. Man this thing takes up a lot of room in the Garage. This I can ride in the snow with its 2WD. Just worried the salt will eat it alive because there is no way to wash it in the winter and my Garage is heated/ bad combo. :diggin:

They have real nice fishing here too.
Elko is a nice place to live. Small and far away from everything, but beautiful if you know where to look.
I'm cramped for space too. I have a car, small lathe and mill, plus a fishing boat, compressor, two bandsaws, and so many tools I can never find the one I'm looking for in my garage.
My hobbies are what keep me alive.
Congrats on the new bike. Wish I was there to help you dig into it.
Oh yeah, your right about the weather 50 one day -5 the next. We had a good snow year so there will be lot of water in the summer. Right now most of the snow is gone here in the valley but the surrounding mts are loaded with snow.
I'll take your advice on the breather, thanks again.
