Loose gear shifter lever.
I tried to tighten it up but it was still loose.
Wrapped some electrical tape around the shifter shaft, put the shifter lever back on, and tightened it down.

You are absolutely right MJH, I was mistaken. The manual mentioned replacing the fuel lines every 4 years which just so happened to be right below the cam chain adjustment topic.
