I'm not surprised. YBRs have been in gov. procurement plan. Some have larger imported Honda, can't recall the model.

09-08-2011, 01:51 PMBeen seeing those in Shanghai for a while now. We also have a few BMW police bikes but have not seen them in person. I did once see the Shanghai fire department's "Fire" BMW, which consisted of a motorcycle fitted with a fire extinguisher tank and a large hose. Wish I'd taken a picture. Others may have seen it at the BMW shop. I had assumed it was just for show, but it was being driven by a very serious elderly Chinese man in a uniform, with no helmet of course.

Shenzhen bikes are illegal? So it's a case of do as I say, not do as I do? Cops, worldwide, all the same....hypocrites. Beijing cops had imported Honda Deauville bikes in 2006. don't know now though.

09-08-2011, 09:16 PMCops can go anywere with their pistol does this make them a hypocrit? They can go more than double the speed limit to save someones life does that make them a hypocrit.... Police go by different rules than you normal citizens so that they can do their job. Shoot actually I believe police are to restricted making it so they can not do their job to the full extent. Anyways on to the bike I think it doesnt look bad, take off the cases and the windshield and you have a good looking bike. And it has the same rim on the front as the back so I dont know where you got spokes from. I was actually thinking about using maybe a ninja250 or another quarter liter bike for when I start my security company.

09-09-2011, 02:47 AMI'm with Graywolf here. The cops don't write the laws banning bikes in Shenzhen or anywhere else in China, though ostensibly they have a mandate of upholding the law (haha). The hypocrites are the limousine-riding party and gov't officials who ban motorcycles in the name of improving traffic (for themselves).
Yes, my mistake. I misread the image and thought I saw spokes up front. My comment was more to disparage the rear drum brake; I'd think an EFI bike would also have a rear disk brake.
And, Graywolf, many thanks for the inordinate sacrifices you and your comrades make, and very much hope you all get called home from the big sandbox earlier than anyone imagined!
cheersjkp

09-09-2011, 02:54 AMNa it cool I actually looked at the pic and the bricks did somewhat make it look like it had spokes... Yea I also noticed the rear drum which I also found weird on a efi bike. And thank you I really do appriciate when people say that even if they dont support the war or our government.

Yea they have old type (seen 1, parked in a cross-way) and recent ones from BMW (seen 3), 2 escorting a black diplomatic limo (flags were covered in black?...) on Huaihai, last was alone on fuxing, wearing a modular helmet with the jaw open... I think the 2 others too but can't recall, that gave a very European look.

They still have that Honda Deauville in Nanjing here. There's 1 (one) cop riding it. I asked him quite a few questions and he said the bike was imported circa 2008 or so and has been poorly maintained since they couldn't do the proper maintenance anywhere. Anyways, that bike looked very-very worn out when I last saw it.
