I have a question on a bit of another topic. Does anyone know if the stock handle bars on this bike is 7/8 or 1 inch. I am looking to change mine but everytime I try to do a measurement I am unsure and do not want to get messed up. thanks.
Our Df's have a a 7/8 30 wide 5 pullback 4.5 center and rise is minimial. Due to my 5-8 height I'm replacing with a black 29.5 width 10 pullback 4.5 center 4.25 rise. I trust the extra 5" of pullback will allow me to seat comfortably. Worried if the wire/ brake wires will allow.
Real hassel to find in black. Better optional sizes out there but no black. I hope to exchange bars next week. Will advise.

Break in done & didn't get run over. Changing oil today & soon as weather allows see how this Bubba handles higher speeds.

    GUNROD,
Please post a photo of your 10" pull back bars and the source when you get them installed. Did you change the 45 tooth rear sprocket for a 35? Stock gearing is way too low.

Yes, I will send photo. Yes I received the new 33 sprocket (they were out of 35s)yesterday, but waiting for chain break tool.
You have experience in making handle bar changes, do think I have enough cable/line to push out the extra 5"?
I ordered two pussy back bags that will substitute full size saddle bags. Matching tool bag for front. New seat coming too.
New chain (520 X-ring 120) & handlebars expected early next week. Buying up my wish list fast before the wife comes out of the ether.

Why not buy a bar with the rise already bent in? For 7/8 bars Bikemaster & Flanders offer the best selection. Due to Black availability, had to go with Flanders #650-03602. If you want 3-4" pull with more rise check out the classic Daytona style

I think that you will have enough cable. My bars are only 5" or so, 32" wide and plenty of cable. I would like more pull back so am interested in how yours turn out.

Also am interested in a report on your X-ring chain. Source? I've got 2200 miles on my OE chain and it seems to not need adjustment as often as before.

You better hurry on your mods as winter is coming.

There does seem to be extra slack for the pull, just worried it won't work after all the trouble and expense.

You guys with your Chinese bobbers might find this post interesting, from Bike Exif...

Not sure how your feet work around those pipes, though.

    cheers!

old bike barn is definitely out of 35 tooth sprockets and don't know when they will get more. every time i search for the model number jtr279.35, everybody's out of them, i look for suitable alternatives and every place wants to know your make and model of your bike but naturally aren't going to have dong fang listed. i guess i'll tell them to send me the 36 tooth if they have it. my local honda shop made me take the sprocket off and bring it in to see if they could match the bolt pattern, but they couldn't.

    hooliganboy,
If you go to http://www.jtsprockets.com/61.0.html and plug in the JTR sprocket number such as JTR279.35 the site will tell you what bike it fits. Go show your Honda dealer how to do it.
