There does seem to be extra slack for the pull, just worried it won't work after all the trouble and expense.
You might have to do a little cable rerouting. Thanks for the info on the chain.

I hope the Honda dealer isn't that daft.I would have to go else where.I recently ordered a JT sprocket and I checked the website to confirm I was about to order the correct sprocket. It wasn't for a DF tho.

thanks guys, and rather than look anything up at honda, the guy just compared the bolt pattern to every sprocket they carried, then told me nah, we don't have nothing like that, you might want to try the internet, like i haven't been relentlessly searching online already. and old bike barn's next sizes are 33 or 38, i'm just not sure what to go with. i guess i'll figure it out, or just wait til someone has the 35 in stock.

    hooligan,
The point was you or your Honda dealer could look up what Honda model the JTR279.35 fit and then he could look up the Honda part number and order it.

Anyway, there is a JTR279.35 on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/HONDA-CMX-250-RE...sories&vxp=mtr
Also other size JTR sprockets on Ebay.

Anyone know of a source for a shop manual?

I'm assuming that the rear wheel needs to be removed from frame to install new sprocket.?

No shop manual for the DF that I know of.
Rear wheel needs to be removed to replace the rear sprocket. Make sure you notice what side of the old sprocket is out so you put the new one on the same way.
    Lot less cussing with http://www.harborfreight.com/10-inch...set-97406.html
Also http://www.harborfreight.com/catalog...?q=Chain+break to shorten the chain.

barnone, how many RPM's do you lose with the 35 tooth sprocket? I haven't even studied this subject at all , except for what I have read posted here so , don't laugh your ass off at me when I ask you if we could used an even smaller sprocket to lower cruise RPM's further and how would it affect the low end torque? Could we possibly get a larger sprocket for the output shaft? I am just curious about the performance possibilities for the DF. Would any of these changes be enough to make the DF a triple digit bike? (I don't want to go that fast on a bike, I am just being curious...)

Thank you sir , also... I like your new avatar, WAY COOL !!
