FYI, my complaint about the unfair pricing of the upgrade between Shanghai & Beijing appears to be the result of SH's JL rep covering the cost himself for three bikes.
JL (CQ) has not provided any consideration to the JH600 owners, anywhere in China, who were left high & dry with the faulty 2.0 fuel delivery system. I guess it was the kindness of the rich SH guy.
The BJ service center has been fighting with JL (CQ) about my case, as I identified the stalling problems well within the warranty period. Apparently, JL (CQ) no longer responds to ZHT's emails (ZHT is the BJ service center guy). I also heard that when the JL (CQ) reps visited Beijing, they told ZHT to just disconnect the sensors because that will be "good enough" and that the customer "shouldn't be complaining if the bike stalls only occasionally."
I will try to deal directly with JL (CQ), and see if I make any headway. Yeah, yeah ... I know ... I live in a fantasy world.
I'll probably end up putting aside my principles and paying for the damn parts (I will do it myself), but this whole situation really sucks.
Drip, drip, drip ... water torture is alive and well in mainland commerce.

Dear LJH,
Thanks for the depressing Beijing update. You are definitely getting the short end of the stick. But let me correct you about our Jialing liaison. He's definitely not a rich guy. I'd call him honorable, in the classic Shanghai fashion***. He's embarrassed by Jialing's insults, and wants to make good by customers he's pledged to support. I did not know that he'd been eating part of the cost. I'm getting my kit this week, and will find out exactly what's going on.
I do think that Nostalgie is correct that we are dealing with a completely new set of idiots at Jialing, who want only warm/fuzzy feelings with 3.0 customers and can't give a flast flying fluck about the rest of us. Would like wring their flucking necks.
cheers
***What's this about honor in Shanghai? I don't take many cabs, but when a cabbie suggests a route and it ends up being snarled in traffic, the driver will often switch off the meter for the duration of the jam. I'm not making this up. I'm not a huge fan of the endless city, and have no interest to ignite a Beijing-Shanghai flame war, but just saying the situations I've described are common here.

I have been informed that the cost was RMB1350 for the ECU and harness.
After that I heard I was going to be paying north of RMB 2000 which I argued was unacceptable.
This is a defective part that needs to be replaced, and if Jialing won't accept that then they should at least be offering the part for us to buy at cost (which I am led to believe is in the neighborhood of RMB 1350). We should refuse to allow Jialing to make any margin on this part!
With this said, not sure what LJH means by SH Service Rep "eating the cost". Milton and I have paid for what I believe is the cost. I repeat NO ONE SHOULD BE PAYING FOR ANY MARGIN ON THIS PART, regardless of if you are the end user, the Service Rep, live in Shanghai, live in Beijing or BRAZIL!
LJH - Ask again what the PRICE is of this part.
If you are quoted anything above what Milton and I paid, then ask again what the COST of this part is.
JL should not be profiting on this

Not fun anymore.....
Okay, as some of you know from the email chain (which I put to rest, because who wants ugly news delivered to their in-box when Spring Is In The Air?).
So here's the continuation of the saga:
Swapped out the ECU on the JH600, aka "upagrade" and the bike was running great. No Stalls. More Power. But one annoying issue after the swap was Difficulty Starting. This difficulty was characterized by the need to thumb the starter repeatedly until it would start and hold an idle. But it wouldn't hold the idle for long, only stalling out about 5-10seconds later, which would then require another flick of the thumb and a little twist of the wrist before she would hold the idle. Typically had to start the bike 2-3 times before idle finally held. After consultation I swapped out the Spark Plug Wire and Spark Plug (replacing the NGK with a Denso of an unkown heat value).
After a couple of rides I started to experience additional annoyances: Unable To Start & Loss of Power. On several occasions when trying to fire up the starter, it just turned and turned and turned, without starting up. Not wanting to kill the starter I would let it rest for 30s and try again. Then after a couple of minutes it started and off I went. Well off I went, but with less power. When running thru the gears the bike would shake a bit and not give me the power I had just a week before. Folks told me the Spark Plug wasn't agreeing with the bike - the heat range of the plug isn't right._____________________

Well joined the guys to the F1 Track on Sunday to watch and enjoy. Rode the JH600 out there with a R1200GS, 200 Yamie and a TB-Racing joined on the ride back after his track run. We even stopped off for this this bit of fun (the JH600 felt out of place at the F1 track so needed to find some consolation somewhere!)
When riding out and back, I experienced 2 "Cut-Outs" during the day. I use the word "cut-out", because they weren't stalls. The bike just turned off when riding, but I still had full battery support (dashboard was fullly lit). I then tried to start the bike and it was SILENT. Not even a turn from the starter. Nothing.
After several attempts and 30seconds of time, the bike fired up and off I went. WTF?
Then yesterday at noon, when pulling out of my office building garage I got another "cut-out". I pulled the plug and cleaned it. Screwed it back in and still nothing. Had to push to bike to Yang Jie's shop (over 2kms, but I'm used to pushing - I've now renamed the bike 退岭! ). On the way, I was able to thumb the starter and get the starter to turn, but it wouldn't start. So pushed it the whole way.
Mechanic Bao couldn't figure out what was going on with the bike, so I left it there and went back to work. At 6pm I'm back to find out what Xiao Bao sussed out. And his theory: Bad ECU.
Today, they will be taking a new ECU (courtesy of euphonius) to swap out it out once again - sorry, I mean "upgrade".
Let you know how this worked out for me later tonight!Last edited by MotoKai; 03-27-2012 at 03:55 AM.

Definitely feeling your pain.
The plug I've been using is the NGK CR9EIX, which you'll note does not show threads where the wire connects. That little cap should be widely available, and simply screws down over the threads on the plug.
Anyone have any idea where to get one of these "caps" in Shanghai? Shouldn't any decent repair station have one?
cheers!

Just heard from euphonius who dropped my ecu off with mechanic Xiao Bao that my JH600 didn't react to the new ECU.
Consensus is that it's bad fuel pump or "suspect wiring."_____________________
