in case anyone wants to know. If you pull those two wires by the clutch and connect them together, you can start the bike in any gear. Life saver

    Hey Jazzbo,

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/STAINLESS-ST...-/320935929419

The speedo seller on ebay said it would need a 3.5" opening. I ended up buying two cups. The first at 3.5 was a damn hair too small. The link above was 3-5/8" was a perfect fit- width and depth. Just had to drill and dremel the holes. The metal was thin so pretty easy.

Jazz - Not sure if anyone got back to you, but those two wires, when connected, allow you to star the bike with the clutch engaged while in gear. If those two wires are un-plugged, you can only start the bike (automatically) when in neutral. Hope that helps!

Well ive tried every combination and they dont do anything. Can anyone HElp thanks

I bought my Heist thanks to Gardo and this forum. Love this place. I should hang out here more often...

Many of the issues you cite in this post have been resolved by CCW. The latest production run of bikes are much better than the earleir models from three years ago. Bolts have been upgraded, welds are better, engine is tighter, and lots of little things that I used to do to my bikes to make them sellable are now factory done. I am actually trying to sell my 2010 heist so I can get the 2013 model. CCW will be manufacturing these bikes in the USA very soon. I believe 2013. Building has been purchased and plans are underway. CCW had made a long term investment intp their products and their customers. I can still get any part I need from distribution, after two years in the business. Many of their competitors have gone out of business for this rason alone. Warranty is solid, and Dealers are making money. Bikes are not perfect, but getting better with every production run. Weaver sells a good product, but lots of other dealers are doing the same or better work with the bikes. CCW is definately here to stay.

Right now you need to understand that a hardtail Chinese bobber will likely always require tinkering and money. It's not a Honda or BMW. I understand new motorcyclists want to save money wherever possible concerning their first motos (who doesn't?), but take it from someone who's been doing the motorcycle thing for years and years: a CCW machine WILL require money and attention from you to keep going. IT'S A CHINA BIKE.

If you're not willing to keep spending time and money here and there, on this and that, then I suggest you cut your losses and sell if possible. Get a Honda Rebel or V Star 250--there's aftermarket support for bobbing them, or turning them into lightweight tourers, and the online forum support for them is active. Plus, they both have literally decades of build history behind them, so they're proven bulletproof, parts are plentiful and cheap, and any moto mechanic knows how to work on one.

In all honesty, if I were buying a Heist brand new I would:

    1) Only purchase from Tom Weaver.

    2) Give him a very appreciable chunk of change over the MSRP.

    3) Tell him to use that money to literally rewire the entire motorcycle, exchange literally every nut and bolt for stainless equivalents, change out every bearing and seal for anything-but-China replacements, re-weld every bracket and weld that's been proven to break on these machines, and rebuild the entire carbie and motor with his hot rod upgrades and never reuse any of the Chinese gaskets that came stock.

    4) Send out the forks to be Ti-nitride or DLC coated to fix the bloody stiction problem.

    5) Preemptively fix every problem that's been proven to happen with frequency to these machines. Little things like improperly vented gascaps and un-Loktited fasteners, for instance.

I'm totally serious. And bear in mind I say all this with much love for Tha Heist--it's currently one of my all-time favorite motorbikes.

Not sure if anyone got back to you on this, but sounds like you have a vapor lock issue. HAve you tried to ride the bike with the gas cap very loose. Try it, ill bet the problem goes away. IF you drill the cap, this proble will go away forever. New bikes have this issue fixed, but some of the older production runs still need to be drilled out. Buss me if you need any help. Phone calls are always free.

Just yesterday I started having a few issues with my bike just dying out while coming to a stop or stopping at a stop light and can feel it idling real low right before it dies out. When it dies I start it up with a little rev and keep on going. I have messed with the idle, cleaned out the carb and just today drained all the gas and cleaned the petcock making sure there was no contaminants. I was hoping some of you heisters can help me out a bit with pinpointing the problem. I recently added a new race carb by weaver rides and G&D exhaust and not sure if that has anything to do with it. Has anyone had anything like this happen with their heist? I would really like some input. I will be changing the oil tomorrow to see if that helps. Any suggestions on oil? Please let me know of anything I can do to fix the problem. I love this thing and might be thinking of selling it if I can't get it squared away. Please, any help would be great.

Went on real easy. Just had to widen the rear mount holes- front fit perfectly.
