Then I tried to start the bike and found it was completely dead. Either the battery is toast or the bike isn't charging, I'll investigate further tomorrow. The battery is charging overnight so fingers crossed it's nothing serious!

haven't done the mod yet to my set of JL bikes, who had actually failing JL600 chain sliders?
is the problem very common or only a problem with the older generations of JL bikes?
    any feedback is much appreciated.

    Who didn't!

Same for old and new bikes! If it's not glued to the swingarm it's just a matter of putting some mileage on the bike, or take the bike off-road to speed it up a bit more. An unglued swingarm rubber will last about 5k km. You might want to take of the cover at the front sprocket and check the rubber where it goes around the swingarm, that's also the thinnest part of the rubber!

Furthermore I would suggest a quality chain, original one requires almost weekly adjustment if you ride a lot. I've replaced mine with an DID-chain, so much better.

Was going to ask about your new "topbox" and it being a "pengmale", seriously? haha!!

....but instead I'll just ask about the exhaust. Looks like a Laser. So did you mod this yourself or did you buy the bike with this can?

Yeah pengmale, lol. It came recommended from chinaV who rarely if ever suggests poor quality products but the name is dreadful

This is the battery that came with the bike. The guy who sold it to me was bragging about how he'd just bought it the day before from the track in Zhuhai but it's turned out to be not so good. While still in ZH the bike went dead for 5 minutes, I thought it may have been the side stand sensor but now im thinking battery. My mate tried to bump start me and although it failed the bike suddenly sprang back into life and I was able to start on the button. Yesterday the bike was completely flat having been sat in my shed for a few days so I charged it overnight and it was on 12.98 this morning and the bike started no problem but the dash was completely blank. Then after stopping for 5 minutes the bike was totally unresponsive so a shopkeeper gave me a (failed) bump start and some lights appeared on the dash and I was able to start on the button. The dash was blank apart from '7 hr' but was working fine so I rode it over to a local bike shop and put in the biggest battery they had, which was half the size of the one pictured above. Obviously size doesn't matter when it comes to batteries as the bike worked fine from then on, all the dash was lit up and dials working as normal. So I'm gonna use the local battery for now and have ordered a fancy one from taobao.

BTW, the bike was charging at 14.5 v so I don't think that's an issue thank god. There's a chance there is a drain somewhere on the bike, I guess i'll know for sure when I try to ride it to Hainan on Friday after work!!

This is the battery I've ordered from taobao - at 450 quai i hope its lasts a while

I was looking around the bike for anything obvious that may be draining the battery when the ignition is off and the only thing that was on was the clock. This couldn't drain a battery in 5 days I'm sure, could it? I've never had a bike with a digital display before so I'm not sure if this is normal or not...

It came with the laser exhaust. It backfires an awful lot and the can isn't securely welded to the pipe which worries me a little. Do you think I should go ahead and have it welded up, or does the can need to be removable?
