My 2010 JH failed at around 8K - I had about a 5 second warning, driving along the street, before the rubber exploded. In my case, during those few seconds, the bike felt like it was being starved for fuel. Then the feeling went away. Stopped at a traffic light, shortly thereafter, and just happened to look down and notice a prominent oil drip. Incredibly, the bike was being ridden to the JL service center for its ECU upgrade, and I wasn't far away.
Seems it affects everyone.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that the oil drip happened when pieces of the rubber got wedged and carried into the front sprocket and blew out the seal. It was a healthy drip, creating a little puddle while waiting for the traffic light. Definitely a WTF moment.Last edited by Lao Jia Hou; 03-14-2013 at 02:05 AM.

Somehow I don't like the fix = epoxy between the chain slider and swing arm.epoxied the chain guide in place
Would regular replacements prevent the chain slider from coming loose, any input or first hand experience?
Thinking along the lines of installing hard type plastic chain sliders but to be honest have not looked into any details or mounting possibilities yet and got now time right now.
....bought some epoxy this morning but......

Milton and I can both endorse epoxy. Combined mileage of 70k and no issues. In fact its the choice fix even for the US Navy. They apparently use it to keep thier tailhooks in place ;)
Really not a big deal. Glue it down.
When/if it shows wear, scrape off and replace. End of story._____________________

Hey,
Yeah the bike is going great, I took it on a small Guangdong trip a couple of weeks back. I was on my trusty yingang all summer because of the fabulous help they can provide with storage and shipping, and also because it's registered! Trying to register the jialing is an ongoing saga, I've been close a few times but still haven't got the plates. The documents are currently with some friends with guangxi in Guangxi and I'm crossing all my fingers and toes that they can come up with the goods!
If/when I get it registered I'll really start going to town on it. Plans include some tourfella or equivalent panniers and perhaps somewhat controversially a MAG rear wheel so I can fit a tubeless tyre. ChinaV was absolutely appalled by that idea and even called me a rude name when I asked him what he thought!
I'll keep u posted

Haha V, short memory!

On a serious note, does anyone know if it's been done before? The Guangzhou bike market has hundreds or maybe thousands of old Jap bike wheels in storage. My plan is to take the whole rear wheel set-up there and try and find the closest thing I can to it, to minimise fabrication work. If I had an idea of possible candidates it may save some time.
