AXA- let us know how that springer fork rides. $600 for a springer front end. the change over is something i would like to try. i think the look would be great on an old style dfrtb.

ride your bike first before making mods to see what you like or not first hand. especially on the performance side of things.

That's the plan indeed. I'm keeping from my usual tendencies to dismantle and rebuild of Chinese manufactured items on arrival. But frankly I just want to get it on the road asap.

I'm pretty curious about the springers myself, not sure what to expect.
What I don't expect is much comfort.
My last bike was a Honda NSR that I laid down a dozen years ago after only 6 months riding.
So we'll see.

I'm really really liking this bike. It hasn't even left my driveway and is already drawing much adoration with the loacals.

Got mine today... the 2012 model.
Used extremescooters to drop ship from sunny.
Ordered on tues 5.7, got a call from the thurs 5.9 the shipper calls offering delivery in 7 days... I asked for today 5.17 instead.
Everything in working order, and Cert of Origin was in the box.
So far so good...

The Cert of Orign that comes with the bike is not completely filled out and they wouldn't accept it here in NV. Should be a link at extremescooters where you can file for a complete one.

Used extremescooters to drop ship from sunny.
Ordered on tues 5.7, got a call from the thurs 5.9 the shipper calls offering delivery in 7 days... I asked for today 5.17 instead.
Everything in working order, and Cert of Origin was in the box.
So far so good...

thats why its best to BUY from a local dealer and use another (like the one u used) for parts/support , because a local dealer will title it register it and get your plates sent to u

Yikes, that's a pretty arbitrary statement.
I had first looked at the local dealers, to feel the bike and get a feel on what the dealer would offer. But easily chose to save the $1200 premium they asked for (including the registering service you mention)

I understand this is a Chinese bike, and there will be problems, and hopefully they are not the type of problems that end up to be catastrophic.
But for me at least, I greatly enjoyed the mere unpacking and assembly.
And perhaps as full time electronics eng and hobby machinist, i have to force myself not to dismantle the bike just so i can find problems and make improvements...
In fact, I've already laid out some stock on the lathe to spin some new foot pegs, for no other reason than the shear enjoyment. And got some 304 on the way for a new set of shift and brake rods; again for no good reason than the fun.

Now if for some ungodly reason, Chad at extreme decided to never send me my document, and a call from my credit card company couldn't help persuade the situation; then ill be the second to say its well worth the costs to have a dealer to complete the MCO right there in front of me.
But if as you insinuate, we are just talking about getting the MCO sometime sooner than later, well maybe cuz im still waiting on my helmet and riding jacket, and cant ride anyway; I really cant see how having a dealer for this can be worth that extra cost.

Maybe $ is no issue for others, or perhaps you don't have the time or interest to deal with these things, but 1200 is going to by me quite a few upgrades and repairs down the road.
For now, its a proverbial no brainier.

Yep, same crate they used to ship mine. I remember my heart racing when I uncrated it.

Not the best bike in the world but for the money it's a steal AFAIAC.

Wish I had the later model like you have. But I have no regrets.

It's funny in that all my family and friends tell me to get a bigger bike but in the same breath they say "and when you do, sell me your moped". I LMAO at that. Nawww Ill keep it. Just for giggles. It's and open canvas after all and every time I replace something on it I get a better part. Eventually it will be a great bike with great looks but it's my first bike. Next bike will have at least a 300cc but it will be parked next to my DF.

And your right, no matter where I go people ask me about my DF and love it. And once I tell them what it is they look at me funny. But by then the light turns green and Im off on my first bike ever feeling good about it. No regrets.

Dont feel bad axa. It took forever to get my TTL thing. Ironically two mins after I ordered it online from killermotorsports I got a call saying I still needed to pay my TTL. Total BS because it was calculated in the final price on their own damn web page. And I printed the reciept to prove it. That shut them up quick. The only sad part is that the folks that drop ship these things really dont know what they are doing and dont care about after the sale support. It's sad but at least the DF has a market this way in the USA. I figure in another 5-10 years they will be where the Japs were in the bike market. But only if they can better the QC and get dealers to actually support them instead of just doing the drop ship "sell and forget" thing.

Not dissing the Chicom bikes but I think my next one will be a Jap bike or a Harley. Either way my DF is staying in my garage.

Well we will see how long it takes for me to receive the mco, i just applied today 5.20.13
But i only brought it up in response to DanDaMan seemingly adamant about it being 'best to buy from a dealer'. I just don't see the value here.

As i mentioned, 2500 delivered, or 3700 through a local dealer... i mean, how many of us would jump at the chance of saving 50% on your next anything if you would skip the middle man and do the paper work or support on you own...
I for one deal with much more complicated issues on a daily basis so the decision was a no brainier...

I cant recall for sure, but I don't think the dealer offered any longer warranty than he would get in turn from the distributor, which is exactly what we get direct from the distributor as well.
So I don't see that 1200 going anywhere other than an 'anti-hassle' insurance policy, and a damn expensive one at that.

We all get it, its a china moto and a japanese or american would give us less problems.
So that's 1200$ that may well go in to necessary fixes down the road, fixes that perhaps a dealer might have taken care of, but that's a big if.
But for now that 1200 goes to my 401k cuz i dont plan on working any longer than i need to...

I just don't get the mind set. Maybe money is burning a hole in others' pockets, but then i don't understand why such a person would be buying a cmoto... Maybe someone can educate me on this
