alright gang, what about this "universal" tach

the 5 wires they described:
black line lock positive electrode
green line lock negative electrode
yellow line contacts signal
some models need to attach high voltage line

I translate this too:
black 12V
green ground
yellow negative coil

again im looking for anything in a dial for my front end mod

no I didn't make a shim , I rather had to REMOVE 1 when my 3rd sprocket arrived , so I only have sprocket and C clip

Yes my brothers do this as well. Buy an old car for $500 and fix it up and sell it for $2000. It can be done.
One of my brothers works at a dealership and brings home a cheap clucker every month. Its a good way to make extra cash.

And I may be able to get a good chunk of change for my DF if Im lucky and persistant. It's just that Chinese bikes (around here at least) have a bad rep placed on them and most buyers are savy enough to google this bike or ask local dealers about it and come away with doubts.

But I agree, My bike has some issues but what little I did to the bike improved it out of the box. Just need to address the slow leak in my tank and take care of the rust issues.

In my experience I see guys with Harleys etc all the time telling me how they bought their hog for next to nothing so where I live there is lots of competition. Living in an Army town means lots of GIs selling their bikes cheap when they transfer or deploy. Depends on where you live. The fact that the local dealers here absolutely trash Chinese bikes doesnt help. It's like real estate...location location location.

so all these sprockets come in differnet thicknesses eh? sounds problematic...

Welcome! I do not own one, but am also thin king of getting one. I am almost done reading this entire thread, and there is loads of great information here. I see you are thinking of the new model with the springer front end. So far, in m y reading, only one or two have bought that one so far. The other new one has the same "peanut" tank as the springer model, but has traditional front forks on it. That is the one I am considering. I would advise you not to buy the earlier model. They are selling those off and these two new models replace them. You can tell the earlier model by the very unique fuel tank, and very unique handlebars. The problem with those is the large number that develop gas leaks at that tank. They don't all leak, but the very questionable mounting system they used is an accident waiting to happen. Many owners had to get warranty gas tanks, and some of those leaded. I understand the new models have a much better mount, and I expect no problems. Personally, I didn't like the older handlebars either, or the looks of the older tanks, but that is personal opinion. I wish these came with a kick start and standard tubeless wheels, but I understand, if the seals on the stock wheels (spoke wheels with seals) you can put tubes in them and run them that way. I think these are nice looking bikes, and I am soon to be 60 and have ridden for over 52 years now. I am fine with a smaller motorcycle. I also am glad that these bikes run a pushrod engine rather than an OHC with cam chain and tensioner. Valves will be a snap to adjust on these, as will about any maintenance needed. There are some known issues, and you may want to read through this thread.

Thanks for replying and I have read through most of the beginning pages but I know I got more to go! I actually didn't notice that the model I was considering had the springer type front fork until the sales rep I was talking to online pointed that out and the fact that you just confirmed that as well. haha well I guess that was a huge noob mistake on my part. SO I guess Ill be considering the model with the traditional fork like you because I don't want the springer. I just personally don't like them. I can just find some ape hanger bars like I want to fit this bike somewhere or make some. I think its awesome a person like you with years of experience is taking the time to spread your knowledge to us younger guys. I feel we need more of that!!

I do recall a guy registering in TN a while back, dont remember where in the thread but if you read 100 posts a day and ull be done in a few weeks :)
also , email the seller, if they know its a problem they will likely tell you about it.
im sure at this point they dont want the hassle of you demanding a return later.

Thanks for replying and I'll definitely be looking for his post. I did talk to an online rep from scooter depot and they did say it was street legal here in TN so I expect no problems if I do buy one.

Welcome Brandy! No doubt the newer style fork will easily outperform the springer any day as far as smoothing out the ride. I like the way they look, but not worth a rougher ride to me. The roads in Silvis are one giant pot hole here anyway!

I bought it from Chad at http://www.extremescooters.biz/250cc...chopper-1.aspx for $1999.99 plus $200 freight. I bought my 2010 DF250RTB from him several years ago with good success.

Anyway, maybe in a few weeks I can meet you at the Deal's Gap store (US 129)
