Documents required at the Mohan, Yunnan, PRC Border to Boten Border Crossing, Laos.

Form 1: Keep this document if you intend to return to PRC. The document is stamped once on the way out of PRC, and then again on the way back in through the PRC border. The document is then retained by you. One can reuse this form/document on subsequent excursions in and out of the country - so long as there is enough room for the exit/entry stamps. I still have my original form, so I'll attempt to reuse it - one less form to find and complete. Addit: as from December 2015 this form is obsolete/no longer required.

    Form 1

    Form 1: Front

    Form 1: Reverse side

    Form 2
(obtain from the Customs counter midway between entry and immigration on RLS where the luggage scanner is, near window). Keep this form if planning to re-enter PRC.

    Form 2: front

    Form 2: reverse side

Form 3 (for other vehicles - not needed for motorcycles).
Form 3 is obtained from the counter inside the main entry just to the RHS of the main entry doorway. Car drivers obtain insurance from this counter too (compulsory), however motorcycle insurance is not available at this counter. Motorcyclists obtain insurance inside Laos. Between Laos Immigration and Laos Customs (distance between both sites ~5km) [no man's land] is a large white multi-storey Duty Free store. On the southern boundary of the Duty Free store car park, near the road side is the Insurance Agent (compulsory for all vehicles). There are signs reading "Insurance" - but could be easily missed.

This form/document is new, and is needed for taking a car across the PRC-Laos border in December 2015 - it has CHN in big red letters on the front and is an adhesive label meant to be stuck to the windscreen/window. This form/document is not needed for motorcycles.
