Kind of vague, beyond that Geely Holdings paid for a 29% share of the company.
http://www.mychinamoto.com/forums/sh...g-Motor/page23
Who owns the other 71%? The 29% was purchased “from Qianjiang’s state-owned parent.”
If the company is now fully private, then the government took the money and left. That is not likely what happened, more likely is that QJ got infused with 166M and the remaining shares are still held by the parent company, which is a government holding company.
Now they have capital to work with and the government relinquished a minority share to Geely Holdings.
I highly doubt that the government sold off all of its interest, because if it did then that would leave QJ cash strapped. Selling it off completely would be about taking that capital and leaving. I cannot imagine QJ is profitable they have been on a spending spree and it is unlikely they have recovered that investment. It is more likely they ran out of capital and the government holding company refused to keep funding them.
So in result a private investor came in and offered up 166m for a share of the company.

Volvo sales are up and Geely announced that they intend on creating a third brand, they intend on utilizing the Volvo platforms for all three brands, the new brand will be their attempt to compete with other JV companies which is considered within China as the middle market. They have not released the name of the new brand it is being referred to only as “code L”.
Geely’s motorcycle division, has not even been mentioned in the press. They have for about a year been advertising re-badged QJ models on their website.

The Wonjan Space Rangers have morphed into the Geely product line, however they have a 400cc twin instead of a 300cc single. These are being marketed also under the affiliated Jiming brand. The engine is the same that is also being advertised in a Motrac version.

The readers’ comments on this in Chinese are humorous, one points out the lack of alignment of the mufflers, they sit uneven, they question were the bike was assembled North Korea? I suspect the problem is that of metal and it changing shape when heated, that being the mufflers may have been level to each other at assembly, then moved out of alignment to each other?
A solution would be a bracket that they all aligned on, that would hold them level.
