Haojiang from what I have read is one of the manufactures that invested in upgrading and expanding production. So, they have a modern facility and are developing new products.
They do not have a bad reputation.
They are aggressively selling low cost 150cc models under the Kinden brand, the Zontes brand was for export and the same version sold domestically under the Haojiang brand, which also is sold under the Tayo brand in export markets.
They manufacturer engines under the Tayan brand, this is the latest engine it was preceded by their 250cc DOHC which is a copy of a Suzuki engine, the 312cc is water cooled and they are floating numbers like it having 36hp putting it under the KTM Duke 390 and above the BMW 312…it has not been released yet however they are targeting the mainstream markets.

It is all very complex, the industry is in attrition, what is odd is that it is doing that in ways that appear to be controlled? I imagine they may be restraining through financing and that may be used by some to continue operating. It is too complex to explain, other than it is not a free market, access to capital comes through central banking.
Those that are more directed as in having a clear direction with defined research and development will likely remain and others eventually will close, but that is the thing closing too many too fast will affect the industry adversely, not only that it would displace laborers.
I have no doubt that Haojiang will continue, its production is diverse it is covering all levels of the market. It is developing new models that are likely to sell reasonably well, the 312 will if they got it correct, it will go unnoticed for a while and in that they really need to strengthen export distribution partners. They may want to consider a production partnership in India. Simply because to compete with the BMW and Duke they would need access to their largest market.
