Turner - BADASS! Don't think I've ever seen a neater wrap job. Time to get after that carb! Adjusted correctly the choke becomes a distant memory. Nice work dude.
Lewnor - The mains I got from jetsrus.com via Barnones link:
http://www.jetsrus.com/a_jets_by_car...4-36_main.html
The stock pilot isn't available. Weaver Rides modded my carb to accept a standard Keihin pilot.

Thanks Kevin! Carb may get worked on in the future, baby steps! For the most part everything is running really well, I can usually fire it right up without any choke unless it's been sitting for a day or two.
Also as I've said before, I'm not that mechanically inclined (though I may get there working on this bike), so I'm not that comfortable messing with the carb. Part of me wants to just order that modded carb from Weaver, another part of me wants to tear the one I have on the bike apart and attempt it myself, then if it doesn't go well just order the modded carb.

Alright so has anyone been keeping track of their gas mileage? And if you are what are you getting. I know there will be some variables that affect this i.e. traffic, environment, and riding style just we shouldn't see much in drastic numbers. however the modified carbs and such should show quite different numbers from what I am expecting.

turner,
Get an experienced friend or local independent shop to help for first go.
Order the main jets (102,105?) from the link above. Remove the carb from the bike. Take the float bowl off. Replace the main jet with the 102 for the high end rpm improvement first try. Put a small washer under the needle for the mid range. My DF runs just fine with the 100 main and one washer.
There is nothing wrong with using a choke to start a cold engine. I think that perhaps some are jetting too rich if they don't need the choke. Too rich will burn more fuel and could cause engine problems with carbon build up.carboned up plug, and washed cylinder walls. Check your plug for color.Vince

Gardo,
I've been getting close to 80 MPG normally here in the mountains with my DF. I was getting about 75 MPG in FL. That's with normal cruising along.
However running the Dragon and spirited riding yesterday with my buddy on his W650 trying to keep up, I only got 70 MPG.
My guess is that you are probably running too rich and that is hurting your MPG.Vince

I gotta say, I've never calculated the MPG. I've got a gas station just around the corner. Usually fill on my way home, gotten a bit OCD about it.
Last weekend I rode to a local spot for lunch, gassed up on the way home without thinking. Totaled out to 38 cents. Paid in exact change too.
When I first got it the wife was laughing at all the $2.xx gas charges. I was so used to sliding the card, forgot I could pay a few bucks in old fashioned cash-ola.

I hadn't really been keeping track all to well but I gassed the bike up and sent myself an email with the numbers from the ODO. I had already put more than 20 miles on the bike since the last fill. what might skew my numbers is that i started the bike and went in so it ran for 10 minutes till I jumped on and took off. (its great having an exhaust fan in the garage) My adhd gets in the way sometimes
But really will get a feel for her when i leave tonight for Americade. Will gas it again.
I'll check the plug tonight before I leave

Looks like I'll be ordering a Heist next week and I'm putting together my mods list. I thought I saw someone post that they swapped out the saddle (possibly Kevin) but I can't find that post in the 38 pages here. Anyone recall the make/source of that saddle and the shocks under it? I'm also looking for a vertical license plate mount with a required white light...don't really want a stop light on it because I plan to leave that on the rear fender. If anyone could post a source they've used for after market parts that'd be great.
