Guys I can not STRESS this enough, check your nuts and bolts! I just got real lucky because I just got home notices my rear tire felt funny and the chain was loose, no problem. Look on the other side of the wheel and the axle nut is most way off. Could have been really bad.
Please take the extra 5 - 10 minutes and make sure the bike is tight and you use locktite

When you pick up the bike from the dealer, do they typically provide all of the torque specs for everything or is that a resource that can be found elsewhere?

Anyone know if these cables will work with 12"apes on the Heist? http://www.burlybrand.com/cablekits/index.aspx

They make em for just about all HD models. Has anyone found a specific HD model whose parts fit the Heist?

Anybody done ignition mods yet? Coil, plug wire or CDI?

Reading around the web shows mixed feelings about these mods. Some say it's just not needed, others say wow solid improvement. Seems like these CDI units are totally hit or miss.

In any case, I'm going for it. Ricks Hot Shot coil with NGK plug wire, and a Casoli gold CDI are on their way. Spent about $90 bucks. Foolish? maybe. I guess we'll see. Not expecting the earth to move, but if I'm truly disappointed I owe my lady a $90 night out. Honestly, I don't think I need this stuff. The bike runs great, pulls strong and fires up on one kick. However, in the spirit of Saturday afternoon tinkering I just can't help myself.

Two other items on my to-do list are a quality battery and chain. Anyone done either of those? Not that I've had any problems with the bike at all. It's just the more generic, black plastic china parts I swap out the better I feel and the more I learn.

the CDI should improve the power band and arc on the motor, I've been dabbling with the idea of a new CDI with the Weaver Performance Head, the coil and wire are also a thought.
I will be installing a 428 HD roller chain and 16T front sprocket this weekend with a few cotter pins to lock everything down.

    Gardo,,,

Since you are in good communications with Al and Tom "Tha Dream Weaver" can you ask them if the rear axle can be drilled for a cotter pin and castle nut combination to keep it from vibrating loose and causing this problem again ??? Just a thought because Blue Loctite can only go so far and Red Locktite is no-no unless you want to use a cutting torch to get the nut back off...
