Think back on your starting issues before the relais failed, could be very easiliy fuel starvation; sounds logical.
But why?

As noted in a previous post, Motokai's bike was exhibiting a peculiar behavior after Xiao Bao swapped out Motokai's new ECU for mine, which is also new and unused. When he switched on the electrical system by turning the key, the fuel pump did NOT spring to life as it should, yet the starter motor would indeed spin the engine when he thumbed the ignition switch. So this was clearly a "fuel pump not delivering" problem, which would be caused by only a couple of things: a bad fuel pump, or lack of current to spin it, which could have been caused by a bad wire or connection, or a bad relay. Happily, the fault was not with the ECU. All that Motokai swapped in the 3.0 "upgrade" was the ECU and the very complex wiring harness, which presumably came from Jialing, but perhaps came from elsewhere. Here's what it looks like:

With this in mind, I'm keen to hear the results of Xiao Fan's investigations. Hopefully it's just a bad wire or or bad relay, both of which should be relatively easy to isolate and repair or replace. Next to eliminate would be the fuel pump.

After that, next steps would be the new Denso spark plug and the spark plug cable.

Next I'd be thinking about the power generation system, particularly the stator that Motokai had to replace last year during his ride through Bashang north of Beijing (for those of you who were not distracted by some of the pictures in that elegant thread). But we are getting ahead of ourselves.

Armchair wrenching! Gotta love it!
