OK I had a look at the WK website. Yes really they are selling the 650i for 3,200 pounds for a limited time. Down from over 4000, that is a genuine bargain. that this is probably as an opportunity to get rid of old unsold stock. Knocking a thousand pounds off certainly makes the bike more appealing.

I'd prefer say a used clean low mileage 2007-2010 Honda Hornet for the same money.

I'd say to lick an ass is not that bad as they say.

yes very very appealing, and along with 2 years warranty and no MOT for 3 years, i think it is a perfectly sensible to buy one....

and ya never give up about the second-hand Japanese bikes ..

everyone has their own point of view on bikes, but at least i know my bike is new and has not had the living shit revved out of it or even wheelied or not been serviced correctly..
People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do

I have that same problem that I want my bikes new. Could had got cheap used Jawas, or BMW K75 year 1994, which I lusted a lot. Now though very happy with the Jawa.

If you pay 3000 of a bike now and get nothing of it after 5 years, it is about the same as if you pay 5000 now and get 2000 of it after 5 years. About the same only because in the latter case you drive 5 years with a better bike and in the former case you have 2000 to invest on something.

Don't smell the kool-aid too hard. A warranty is not a cloak of all invincibility. Merely a 'promise' that if you continue to spend money with them in the short-medium term they may look after you. Then again they may hang you out to dry especially after that magic 2 year deadline has passed, with no parts when your bike goes wrong leaving you with an un-ridable, un-sellable lemon in your garage or drive-way. Sometimes they even leave bikes on their shop floor for months waiting for parts to come in as a way to sit out the warranty.I hope nothing bad happens and that you have a great bike, but if you think you bought a bike just as good as a Japanese bike for half the money you are mistaken.

Also wheelies are not necessarily abuse they are simply that someone knows how to use a rear brake, throttle and clutch at the same time. Done by a noob they can wear out the head bearings.

    @MJH,

The position of the oil dipstick suggests a copy of the CBR150R engine more than 125 due to the availability of the CBR150R over the 125 in Asia obviously a easy change for sure. Looking at Stripped YCR 150 pictures it looks to be a SOHC head.

I do not think the dip stick position is the same as the Honda, it may actually tell us it is a Chinese engine.
The dip stick on the CBR150 is not located there and it is not located there on the CBR125 either.
    Honda 150cc DOHC 4-Valve

The Chinese YCR engine is SOHC like the CBR125 engine, unlike the Honda CBR150-R that is a DOHC 4-Valve.
    Chinese made SOHC 150cc

For example this is a YCR that is actually labeled Honda, it is a fake Honda, there are a few giveaways, the engine and also the brakes.

I would not be at all surprised if the WK imports with these engines are actually 150cc and labeled 125cc? The actual Honda SOHC is rated at 13hp and these WK 125cc versions are rated just under that.

This is hardly the bible….however the specs on the YCR 150cc are
    Engine features: single-cylinder, four-stroke, vertical
    Cooling mode: Water-cooled
    100 km fuel consumption: 3 l -5 l
    Wheelbase: 1335mm
    Dial: LCD instrument
    Front suspension equipment: Upright damping
After the shock device: hydraulic center shock spring +
    Fuel type :: 93#
    Emission Standard: GB1462-2002 GB14266-2002
    Front Tire Size: 100/80-17/225Pa
    Rear Tire Size: 130/70-17/250Pa
    Front brake Type: Single disc
    Rear brake Type: Single disc
    Battery: 12V/7AH
    Fuel tank capacity: 13 liters
    Vehicle weight: 120KG
    Maximum load: 150KG
    Minimum ground clearance: 165mm
    Maximum torque and speed: 11N.M/8000r/min
    Maximum power and speed: 9.5KW/9000r/min
Intake / exhaust valve clearance: 0.05/0.05
    Number of valves: 2
    Idle speed: 1500 ± 150
Exhaust pipe: YCR car Earmarked (silver)
    Carburetor: accelerator pump carburetor

How did WK get a version of the 150cc @ 125cc to offer near the same hp as the 150cc?

I cannot imagine that the people at WK would agree to that, however I can certainly imagine a Chinese OEM selling an engine as a 125cc when it is actually 150cc, they abuse their indemnity, the risk burden is a line at the border, and they will sell products that in fact hand you huge risks across that line, as into your market. How can a UK company hold a Chinese company accountable, they cannot legally, they have no viable way to do that. They will sell products to companies in other countries that may be in violation of laws in the country they sell into. They have no worries in that because the burden of liability transfers with the goods. They operate in China with indemnity, they have impunity to the recourse of other legal systems outside of China.
